This Hartley Golden Cowrie 38 is a very nice long distance cruiser for a very interesting price. Build in ferrocement she is very though and requires low maintenance. An excellent choice if you are looking for toughness but not willing deal with the maintenance you have with, for example, a steel ship.

She is designed by the New Zealand designer Richard Hartley and build under supervision of the current owner at Ferrocem, a professional Dutch shipyard specialized in ferrocement material.

By just looking at the ship you notice immediately she is built for some serious cruising. The design, the fixed sprayhood, the robust fit and finish it is all well thought out and sturdy. The cockpit is deep for safety and the fixed sprayhood protects you from bad weather or burning sun.

Inside the ship you’ll find a modern and light interior. At portside is a spacious galley and the access to an open rear cabin with a two person bed. At starboard side is the navstation and the access to the second rear cabin with a single bed an extra storage space.

Amidships, by means of some small steps, you end up in the saloon. Here are at both sides comfortable settees made and a table in the middle. Further forwards is at portside the wet cell and at starboard is a workbench. A very handy feature. Then finally in the forepeak is a single person bed. Throughout the ship there is lots of storage space to be found.
