Additional details |
The ship was built in 1937 at Schut in Martenshoek (Groningen). The original ship plate is still present. According to the 'Yearbook for shipping and shipbuilding 1932 – 1940' (Moorman) the ship was built under the name Stirns for Mr. F. Fokkema in Amsterdam. He owned it until his death in 1961. All owners the ship has had since then are known. In 1992, the then owner, Mr. Post, registered the ship with the Vereniging van Booteigenaars Oude Glorie (VBOG). The name of the ship had changed to Ahoy in the meantime. The response of the Oude Glorie, however, went to the next owner, Mr. SJ Hoornstra, who had bought the ship in 1994. Mr. Hoornstra hardly sailed the ship because he almost continuously reconstructed it at intervals. This reconstruction initially mainly concerned the exterior of the ship, the bottom, the deck, the cockpit tent and the engine. In doing so, almost the entire interior, in particular the interior panelling, was removed. In 2007, the next owner, Mr. Douma, replaced the original 40 hp Gray Marine petrol engine with the current engine.
The current owner bought the ship in 2009 as a retirement project. He started the last part of the reconstruction, the application of a completely new interior panelling + the renovation of the hull and the cockpit tent, in 2010. The execution was completely at a standstill for several years due to unforeseen personal circumstances, but was picked up again in early 2017. The ship was festively launched again on 14 July 2018 as Bondeux. Since then it has been sailed with great pleasure.
The layout is now again in accordance with the usual for this type of ship: in the front of the forecastle the toilet, behind that the pantry and the saloon with two berths. Behind the forecastle the cockpit with a cockpit tent with fixed roof over it and finally the afterdeck. Under and behind the afterseat, under the floors, under the sofa beds and in the interior an excess of storage space has been created. During the reconstruction some original details could be preserved.
