White Whale Yachtbrokers was founded in 2003 by Guido van den Berg.

As an avid and demanding water sports enthusiast, he regularly bought and sold ships. He found the service provided by the brokers he used to be too expensive on the one hand and too lazy on the other. Most brokers also want to sell new boats and offer other services. As a result, the emphasis is often not 100% on brokerage. In addition, it is a sector where cooperation did not exist, which meant that the brokers remained too small to be really effective in the global market for ships. So why not do it yourself and improve yacht brokerage?

The concept started with sales from its own berth in the Netherlands. White Whale Yachtbrokers was the first in the Netherlands to offer a complete service for this. And this at a drastically lower rate than the water sports enthusiast was used to with the traditional yacht broker. The emphasis was and still is on very extensive advertising, especially on the internet. This made White Whale Yachtbrokers was already at the forefront in 2003. This with good photos and complete information about the ship, honest advice to both owner and buyer and a transparent service.

The efforts were appreciated: less than 6 months later, the second employee was hired full-time because the growth was enormous. Since 2007, the head office of White Whale located in Willemstad (NB), in a beautiful building at the new marina, where 2 yacht brokers are always ready for you.

Of course, there was also the intention to have multiple offices in the Netherlands. In order to guarantee quality and motivation, it was decided to work with independent brokers. Precisely because the ships are in their own berth, geographical distribution is very important to be able to efficiently handle the logistical problem. In 2008, White Whale Enkhuizen, run by Robert de Vries, the first independently operating office of White Whale Yacht brokers through a franchise structure. This was soon followed White Whale Sneek, run by Enno Dijkstra. The company has since grown into 11 locations throughout Europe with more than 350 ships in the cars for sale and an annual turnover of approximately €30.000.000 in sold ships. Selling from a berth of White Whale Yachtbrokers, for water sports enthusiasts who no longer want to sail themselves and perhaps even want to outsource maintenance, is also possible at several offices. Furthermore, we are also specialized in selling ships from the Mediterranean. We come and take the photos and videos ourselves, regardless of where your boat is! So real success, no promises.
