Buy a boat at White Whale Yachtbrokers

Buying a boat at a yacht broker from White Whale Yachtbrokers? How we can help you:

  1. The first inquiry

We help you right after your first inquiry with us. All questions you may have after seeing an ad from our offer we try to answer, usually together with the selling owner. We make sure you can view the boat if desired and that the vessel is ready for you. We do our best to inform you as objectively as possible beforehand, also to prevent unnecessary disappointments during a viewing. Buy a boat at White Whale Yachtbrokers, we ensure a pleasant purchasing process.

  2. Arranging financing and insurance

You may want to finance part of the purchase to have more leverage during negotiations. Of course, you want your new possession to be well insured. We have good contacts throughout Europe with the most renowned companies in this field and have the knowledge in-house to support you in making the right choices.

  3. Making an offer on a vessel

Do you ultimately want to buy the boat? Of course we help you make a realistic offer on a boat, to maximize your chances of purchasing the vessel at a fair and good price. If an offer is accepted, we draw up the sales agreement stating the exact conditions and agreements, including a final date for payment and delivery. Payments are always made via a separate third-party escrow account, so that your deposit and final payment are secure until the transfer of the boat is finalized. This is usually after a satisfactory sea trial and survey.

  4. Paperwork

All the necessary paperwork for a transfer of ownership is checked by us and, if necessary, requested from the relevant authorities. For you as a buyer, it is important that there is proof of VAT payment, that the boat is free of debts and liens, and that the seller is indeed the actual owner. We also check the ship registry to ensure there is no mortgage on the vessel.

  5. Sea trial and survey

If you have found your dream boat, we always recommend taking a test drive and having an expertise carried out on the vessel by a certified expert. The buyer pays for the expert and the crane costs. We arrange the appointment with the expert (of your own choice) and the shipyard. In principle, we are present at this inspection and test drive and mediate if any problems are found. Occasionally, a major defect is found in a vessel. Of course, as a seller you can then withdraw from the sale without any obligations. In case of minor defects, we help buyer and seller find the right solution, usually a settlement of the costs.

  6. Protecting your payments

White Whale Yachtbrokers uses a separate client account (third-party funds account) so that as a buyer you can be sure that your down payment and final payment are secure. Only after the transfer of the vessel to the buyer, and after signing the Deed of Delivery, is the purchase price transferred to the seller. In the case of private transactions, this can be a potentially risky moment, but not with White Whale.

  7. After the delivery

If the vessel has been delivered to the new owner, your White Whale Yacht broker can help with getting the ship ready for sailing, having any work carried out, or even preparing it for transport if the boat is going on a truck. We have the right local contacts and knowledge to give you, as the new owner, the right start. If you are also looking for a new berth for the ship, we have the right partners.
