More about the Super van Craft 13,80

100,000 euro refit!!!!

There are boats that transport you — and there are boats that make you feel something the moment you step aboard. The Super van Craft 13,80 from 1968 undeniably belongs to that second category.

Super van Craft 13.80

She's not just sitting there in the water; she lies there like a statement. A time capsule of craftsmanship, gleaming steel and warm wood, built in an era when things were still hand-drawn, planed and shaped to perfection. Her lines are soft yet powerful, as if she always knew she would outlive generations.

Powered by two BMC diesel engines of 125 HP each, this classic has not only charm, but also character. The moment the engines come to life, you don't hear brute noise, but a deep, reassuring rhythm — as if the boat itself is breathing. Dual steering makes her not only practical, but also special: you feel the control, wherever you stand on board, like an extension of your intention on the water.

Inside, she breathes nostalgia. Classic ornaments, carefully polished woodwork, and details that have become rare today. It is not a interior, it is a salon on the water — a place where conversations slow down, glasses seem just a little fuller, and time behaves less hurriedly.

And commercially speaking? This is no ordinary motorboat. This is a floating heritage piece with presence. A Super van Craft like this attracts attention in every harbour, increases its value over the years, and offers something you cannot rebuild: authenticity. She appeals to buyers who are not just looking for boating, but for experience, status, and a story.

On open water, she shows what she truly is: stable, powerful, and surprisingly elegant. No loud modernity, but a quiet certainty. As if she says: I had already seen the sea before you even knew you would come to know her.

Whoever owns her doesn't just buy a boat. They buy a piece of Dutch maritime history — and a way of life in which beauty, technology, and emotion still form one whole.

A teak floor on a Super van Craft is not just a deck or interior finish — it is the backbone of her character, the common thread that brings everything on board together into one harmonious whole.

Super van Craft 13.80

As soon as you step aboard, you feel it right away under your feet: solid teak, warm and alive. Not smooth and sterile like modern composites, but with that subtle grain structure that gives every step its own character. The wood has a deep golden-brown glow, shaped by decades of sun, salt, and careful handmade finishing.

Because the ship is fully finished in teak throughout, a unique sense of unity emerges. Indoors and outdoors flow into one another. The floor visually continues into the deck, so you never feel like you're going from “inside to outside” — you simply move through one continuous, elegant space on the water.

The advantages of such a teak floor are not only aesthetic, but also surprisingly practical:

  • Natural grip, even when wet
  • Thermal comfort: cool in summer, pleasant in cooler seasons
  • Sound-dampening effect, making it feel calmer and quieter on board
  • Durability: teak is naturally oil-rich and resistant to moisture and salt water
  • Repairability: minor damage can be repaired locally without replacing the whole

But the real strength lies in the experience. A teak floor on a Super van Craft does something that modern materials rarely can: it brings calm and rhythm to the ship. Every step sounds muffled and full, as if the wood absorbs the movement and returns it like a gentle echo of stability.

Visually, the ship gives an almost yacht-like appearance. The glossy teak catches the light of the sun and the water, making the deck change character time and again — warm gold in the morning, deep honey-colored in the evening sun, and almost mystically dark under a grey sky.

Combined with the classic design of the Super van Craft, something special emerges: a ship that is not only functional, but also emotionally convincing. A ship where tradition doesn't sit behind glass, but literally lives beneath your feet.

And that is precisely why a full teak floor is more than finishing. It is the foundation of the experience. A quiet luxury that doesn't ask for attention, but receives it naturally — every time someone steps on board and says nothing for a moment, except: this feels good.

There are engines that simply run — and there are engines that tell a story every time they come to life. The BMC diesel engine belongs to that second category.

BMC

Built in a time when technology was still designed with an eye for durability rather than speed of replacement, the BMC engine is known as a quiet force. No frills, no unnecessary luxury — just pure, honest mechanics that do what they need to do, year after year, generation after generation.

When such a BMC diesel starts up, it doesn't happen abruptly, but with a recognizable, deep breath. A sound that inspires confidence. It is the sound of certainty on the water, of traveling without doubt. As if the engine is saying: I'll bring you home, no matter how far you go.

Commercially speaking, that is precisely where her value lies. In a world of rapid replacement and electronic complexity, the BMC has become a symbol of reliability. She is beloved in the maritime world because she doesn't ask for attention, yet earns it. Parts are simple, maintenance is honest work, and her character remains untouched by the passing years.

But her true strength doesn't lie in specifications. It lies in the feeling she evokes when you start the engine on a quiet morning and the water is still flat and mirror-like. The vibration through the hull, the smell of diesel mixed with salt water, and that calm realization: this engine was made to keep going, even when everything around it changes.

For many, the BMC is more than technology. She is a companion. A reliable partner who knows no drama, only discipline. No excess, only functionality that is almost poetic in its simplicity.

And that is precisely why she remains beloved. Not because she tries to impress — but because she never disappoints.

This model has an extra large sliding roof.

A large sliding roof on a Super van Craft is one of those details that you don't immediately grasp from the specification list, but only truly appreciate once you're standing under it, sailing and living.

Super van Craft 13.80

It's more than an opening in the roof — it's a link between inside and outside, between comfort and nature, between shelter and freedom.

When the sliding roof glides open, the atmosphere on board changes instantly. The cabin, which is normally a warm, intimate wooden cocoon, opens up to the sky. Light streams in, wind finds its way along the teak, and the space gains an almost homely openness on the water.

Ventilation that feels natural

A large sliding roof provides a constant, natural airflow. On warm days, the heat rises and escapes through the open roof, while fresh air is drawn in from the gangways. The result is a pleasant indoor climate without depending on technology or fans — purely through design and airflow.

The real outdoor feeling, but with comfort

What makes this element special is that you experience the feeling of being outside without giving up the comfort of being inside. You sit sheltered from gusts of wind or sudden rain, but you hear the birds, feel the sun, and smell the water as if your open deck is directly part of the saloon.

Light, space and experience

A large sliding roof also brings something visual that is hard to replace: light incidence. Sunlight falls in soft streaks on the teak interior, making the wood appear even warmer and more vibrant. The vessel feels larger, airier and less enclosed — as if the boundaries of the superstructure temporarily disappear.

Flexibility at any moment

The best thing about such a sliding roof is the freedom it provides:

  • Open during sunny cruises for maximum experience
  • Half open for ventilation and comfort
  • Closed during bad weather without the feeling of being enclosed

That flexibility not only makes the ship more beautiful, but also more livable in every season.

A classic detail with a modern experience

On a classic ship like the Super van Craft, the sliding roof also strengthens the balance between tradition and ease of use. It respects the lines and character of the design, while at the same time adding an almost modern luxury that noticeably enhances everyday sailing.

The result is a rare combination: a ship firmly rooted in classic craftsmanship, yet able to open up to the world around it at any moment.

And that is precisely what makes a large sliding roof not a technical detail, but an experience. A quiet luxury you don't explain on board — but that you feel again and again every time the sky opens above the teak.

Possible berths for takeover.

The ship has a beautiful berth at Arie Wiegmans in Breukelen, Loosdrechtse plassen. An option on a berth in the Amsterdam Marina can also be taken over.

Island for takeover

We used the ship as a 'holiday home' on our island in the Northern Kievitsbuurt on the Loosdrechtse plassen. It is a wonderfully located island, close to the 'Kalverstraat' and the passage to the Vijfde Plas. It is a unique private domain where we have spent unforgettable summers with the children.
