The Seafarer 501 is a classic analog depth sounder (echo sounder) that was widely fitted on sailing yachts and motorboats, especially in the 1970s and 1980s. The instrument still enjoys an excellent reputation for its simplicity, reliability and clearly readable analog display.

- Works with a transducer (sensor) in the hull that measures the water depth using echo sounder technology.

How does it work?
The Seafarer 501 sends a sound pulse to the bottom and measures the time until the echo returns. Based on this, the water depth is calculated, the same principle that modern depth sounders still use today.
