More about the Van De Wiele Ketch Refit

The Van de Wiele ketch is a sister ship of the famous Belgian yacht "Williwaw" which is currently in the Antwerp maritime museum. With this sister ship, Willy de Roos sailed no less than 360,000 miles across the oceans. This should be proof enough that the design is particularly seaworthy. You may judge for yourself whether this is a yacht or a ship. During construction, "Nestor" was scoopered, or galvanized. This means that rust has no chance. The construction is extra heavy to make the boat suitable for getting frozen in. The current owner has carried out very solid maintenance in recent years and replaced many things (see specifications). The interior is divided into two. The salon has a real nautical atmosphere due to the use of dark teak and many brass details. The corn-yellow floor and blue cushions give the boat a very authentic character inside as well. Upon entering, to the left is the L-shaped galley, and to the right is the navigation corner. Amidships is a spacious seating area with benches all around. There is a Heatpol diesel heater, heavy enough to heat the entire boat. The forward cabin offers space for 3 people with a double and single bed. To the front left is the bathroom with washbasin and vacuum toilet. The aft cabin, accessible from the cockpit, is now used as storage space. This cabin could also be made suitable as a sleeping place if desired. This Van de Wiele Ketch is in excellent condition and fully ready to sail. For those looking for a seaworthy yacht, suitable for long stays on board, this is an interesting choice. We would therefore like to invite you for a viewing in Monnickendam.
