The Noordkaper 36 with center board is a robust steel quality yacht, built by Smits Jachtbouw in Makkum. (nowadays part of Enkhuizen, Makkum). Thanks to the retractable center board, and therefore shallow draft, you have access to a large sailing area. This yacht, designed by Martin Bedebreke, is ketch rigged with a cutter foresail configuration. With this sail plan you always have the option to set the right sails for any wind force. The removable doghouse means that you can shelter the cockpit in various ways. The entire hull was painted in 2006 with a 2-component epoxy system, which preserves the steel exceptionally well. At the end of 2011, after renewing the sea railing, the hull, deck and superstructure were repainted. The interior is warmly and cosily finished with oak and pine bead-and-cove panelling. You step inside into the galley, with the saloon one step lower. On the wall hangs the paraffin-fired Tailor stove, which provides a comfortable indoor temperature on cold days. The owner's cabin, at the back, has a large double bed and is equipped with a spacious wardrobe for clothing. In the forepeak there is a V-shaped double bed with storage space under the beds.
