Exceptionally beautiful Koopmans 40 built in woodcore/epoxy offered with a centerboard. Koopmans is known for its beautiful and exceptionally seaworthy designs, and this Koopmans 40 is an excellent example of that. This ship is offered by its first owner, and the love put into it shines through. The owner has also not skimped on the maintenance of the ship, with a refit in the winter of 2015-2016 as the icing on the cake. To give you an idea of the work carried out; the hull has been repainted, a Flexiteek deck has been installed, all equipment has been replaced with beautiful B&G instruments, mainsail (the genoa was renewed in 2021, by the way) and that is only part of the list. In short, no expense or effort has been spared to keep this lady in her full glory.
When we take a tour on board, the Flexiteek finish on deck immediately stands out. It looks sleek, provides good grip and, for many people, is interesting because it is virtually maintenance-free compared to teak. The gangways are wide for a safe passage on deck. The cockpit is comfortable and the sprayhood provides nice shelter when the weather is a bit less pleasant. But actually, I should start when we are not yet on board. Then the gleaming hull is the first thing that catches the eye. The dark blue paint in combination with the deck and the white superstructure gives the ship a chic appearance.
Inside the ship, you are welcomed into a warm and nautical interior. The matte finished, flame-built cherry wood paneling gives it a chic interior befitting the exterior of the ship. Here too, it is immediately apparent that no expense was spared in the construction of the ship.
To starboard in the aft ship you will find the first two-person cabin and to port is the wet cell. Further forward in the ship, to starboard, is a spacious galley, equipped with, of course, hot and cold running water, a stove, refrigerator, and plenty of storage space. Opposite this, to port, is the chart table with the controls for the onboard systems and a repeater display for the navigation equipment mounted outside in the cockpit.
Amidships is the cozy saloon with comfortable sofas on both sides of the cabin and a table in the middle. In the fore ship, the second cabin can be found. This is equipped with three single beds and, of course, the necessary cupboard space.
If you are looking for a ship with beautiful lines, more than excellently maintained, and above all very seaworthy and therefore perfect for longer journeys in comfort and safety, then this Koopmans 40 is the ship for you. With the added bonus of a centerboard, so you never have to choose between sailing performance and access to that beautiful bay or charming small harbor with limited draft.
