Step aboard the iconic Whitby 42. A seaworthy ketch designed by Edward Brewer. This yacht, beloved by world sailors, combines reliability, comfort and performance. Built with long-distance cruising and self-sufficient life on board in mind, this vessel is a rare opportunity for those who dream of distant destinations.
The Whitby 42 is 12.8 metres long, has a beam of 4 metres and a relatively shallow draft of 1.75 metres, making her equally at home on ocean routes as in shallower coastal waters. This vessel is fitted with a full-length keel for extra stability. With her ketch rig, she sails in a controlled and balanced manner, even in rougher conditions.
The interior offers everything you need for comfortable trips. The owner's cabin is located at the back and can be reached via a passage from the salon, but also has a separate entrance from the cockpit, providing extra privacy. There is also a cozy salon, a practical galley with oven, refrigerator and the necessary storage space, and a separate navigation area. There are a total of two cabins and two toilets, one of which has a shower facility. This vessel is surprisingly spacious and offers ample storage space for living aboard or long journeys. Enjoying the fresh air outside is of course also possible. The cockpit is particularly spacious and is protected from the elements by a fixed sprayhood. Ideal when the weather is a bit less pleasant, but also great on warm days to find some shade.
The engine is an 80hp Ford Lehman diesel and the onboard bow thruster makes maneuvering easy. With a fuel capacity of approximately 500 liters and water tanks of approximately 850 liters, she is excellently equipped for longer crossings without depending on frequent stops.
In terms of navigation, this Whitby is of course equipped with the necessary equipment, including a chart plotter, VHF radio and a radar. On deck you'll find an electric anchor winch, sturdy rigging and safe gangways. There are even solar panels to be energy independent.
The Whitby 42 is robust, forgiving and built for the real seafaring life. Yet at the same time she offers the charm and comfort of a floating home, with character and warmth in every detail.
Whether you dream of an Atlantic crossing, a round-the-world trip or simply long summers on the water, this Whitby 42 is ready for it.
