The Van de Wiele ketch is a sister ship of the famous Belgian yacht "Williwaw" which is now in the Antwerp maritime museum. With this sister ship Willy de Roos sailed no less than 360.000 miles across the oceans. This should be proof enough that the design is exceptionally seaworthy. You can judge for yourself whether this is a yacht or a ship. During construction, "Blue pearl" was scooped, or galvanized. This means that rust has no chance. The construction is extra heavy to make the boat suitable for freezing. Both the current and the previous owner have carried out proper maintenance and replaced many things (see specifications).
The interior is divided into two and has been adapted by the current owner. The salon has a real ship atmosphere due to the use of dark teak and the renewed floor. Upon entering, the L-shaped kitchen is on the left and the navigation corner is on the right. Midships is a spacious sitting area with benches all around. There is a diesel heater with convectors, heavy enough to heat the entire boat. The fore cabin with double bed offers space for 2 people. To port is the bathroom with sink and electric toilet on 12V. The aft cabin, accessible via a new passage made by the current owner, is suitable for guests/children who have a good private place there.
This Van de Wiele Ketch is in excellent condition and ready to sail. For those looking for a seaworthy yacht, suitable for long stays on board, this is an interesting choice.
