More about the Schottel RV171
This Schottel is a true classic, offered by the first owner after the government use of course. The current owner has invested a lot , such as the overhauled DAF 575. The RV 171 (Klovenier) has been used by the Dutch occupation and has been adapted in 1972 for the Dutch military police. Shortly after this the current owner bought the boat. Most striking is the Schottel drive. The position of the drive itself can be changed instead of a conventional rudder. The advantage of this is the immediate response, even at low speeds. It is also possible to reverse the entire drive. The current owner also placed a bow thruster, so maneuvering this boat is very easy! The hull and superstructure was built in 3mm steel, so this ship is relatively light. The saloon is spacious and functional. To port is the longitudinally placed galley, next to the galley is the table with seats, which can be transformed into a double bed. Further back to port is the toilet and to starboard is a single fixed bed. There are certainly opportunities to adapt the boat to your own taste. In the front of the ship is the wheelhouse. The Schottel ships are very sturdy and practical. This Schottel in particular has an interesting history, but now it needs some work.
