More about the Danish Rose 31
The renowned Dutch naval Architect Bekebrede is well known for his rigid and seaworthy designs. This sturdy ketch-cutter rigged Danish Rose 312 motor sailor built for all weather and will certainly enable you to cross large waters and explore distant shores too. The boat is technical and cosmetic very well maintained. The deck is easily accessible with spacious decks and wide side decks. There are two helm positions; one in the cockpit with a tiller, and one in the cabin with a hydraulic steering wheel. So you have the choice to steer outside in fair weather, or find a well sheltered spot in the heated cockpit in bad weather. The rig is modern and it is easy to reef the sails thanks to the lazy jacks. The jib is on a roller, so it is quickly removed. The jib is self tacking so sailing upwind is quite easy. The advantage of the chosen rig is that it positions the sail pressure point low and this contributes to the stability of the ship. Besides the bowsprit is a beautiful mechanical anchor winch is found on the foredeck, which certainly contributes to the tough look of the boat. The robust interior with teak carpentry shows almost no traces of use. It has been made with great craftsmanship with nice solid curves in the bulkheads. To port is the inside steering position where we have good overview on the boat and over the water. All navigation equipment including a modern chartplotter and engine instruments are within reach. To the right is a navigation area, with a buddy seat. Two steps down leads into the galley with double sink, oven and cooler. Opposite is the head with toilet, sink and shower. The salon has beautiful dark blue upholstery. By simply lowering the table quickly a large bed is created. In the bow is a fixed double berth. Port side, behind the helm is a real pilot berth where one can sleep at sea. This area can obviously also be used as extra storage space. All in all, a successful design and an eye-catcher in the harbor. It unites nautical nostalgia with modern technology and is a joy to sail. It is big enough for a family, and small enough for one to sail single handed. We invite you to make an appointment at [email protected] for a visit in Harderwijk to come and see her.
