More about the Marken III (Buchanan S-SPANT)
The Marken III that we offer is designed by Alan Buchanan. It was built in 1972 at the shipyard Dekker Diemerzeedijk in Amsterdam. The boat has been lovingly cared for by the current owner who has her for many years in his possession. The Sodalis can legitimately be called a modern classic and is fully ready to go. The yawl rig, the rear mast behind the rudder, and the s-shaped hull make this boat very steady course under sail. She is therefore suitable for large open water. The hull is made of steel, has a teak deck and interior and superstructure of Bruynzeel plywood. The teak deck is conserved with the Owatrol system and has some paint maintenance. The wooden masts are in good condition as are the sails although the latter are a bit older. Hoisting and reefing of mainsail and mizzen is done at the mast, and there is a furling genoa. There are also a storm jib and spinnaker.
The cockpit offers enough room for a crew of 4 to 5 persons. Under the floor is the engine compartment. The Volvo Penta 36-hp is from 1985 and the electronics were replaced and properly constructed. The interior is remarkably spacious with sufficient standing height even for tall people. There is a simple galley and navigation table. In the fore cabin is a double room with toilet and a hanging locker opposite. Starboard aft is a pilot berth. The sofas in the salon are also suitable as sleeping so she sleeps no less than 5 people.
Who is sensitive to the charm of classic yachts, this is an interesting yacht. The boat has been always been indoors in winter and can be visited in Monnickendam (NL). Deze boot wordt bemiddeld via kantoor White Whale Yachtbrokers Enkhuizen.
