"Iris" is a 40 ft sloop, designed by Van de Stadt. Launch took place 19 October 1994. She is professionally build in aluminium-foam-plywood sandwich construction. which combines light weight with rigidity. Welding and gluing of the sandwich is done professionally (Pulse-Mig) by qualified welders. Gluing is done up to aviation standards. The insulation has good for both temperature as also noise which is comfortable at sea in stormy conditions. The hull itself is conform the Van de Stadt design but a few alterations were made. E.g. the hull is made stronger and 1mm thicker. Also the standard fin keel is changed for a better hydro-dynamic performing "Scheel" design led keel with a draucht of only 1.65. The rudder is a free hanging balanced spade operated with a Whitlock Cobra 5 system. The interior is made also professional and has high quality upholstery. There is a spacious galley with all modern equipment. Opposite right is the charttable and head. There are 6 sleeping places in 3 cabins.
