This Kroes Boemerang self-build was built based on the construction drawings of designer Gait Kroes of Kroes Bootbouwers in Kampen. The design came about after a design competition was launched in the Waterkampioen. The builder chose to build the ship not clinker-built but carvel-built, resulting in a beautiful sleek and smooth hull. The cabin roof has been raised slightly and the cabin floor lowered, creating more headroom in the cabin.
The ship is entirely built in wood-epoxy. Mahogany was used for the hull and the superstructure of the Kroes Boemerang. The magnificent teak deck gives the Boemerang a beautiful, luxurious and classic look.
There is ample space in the cockpit to sail the ship comfortably. All halyards and sheets are led aft. Thanks to the winches and stoppers placed on the cabin roof, the sails can be hoisted from the cockpit. The self-tailing sheet winches placed on the cockpit edge ensure easy operation of the foresails.
The cabin is equipped with two spacious berths which also serve as a comfortable seating bench. The cabin table is attached to the mast support and can easily be turned away to create more space. The sink and the stove are placed next to the entrance. In the forepeak, which serves as storage space, the toilet is placed on the port side and the drinking water tank is also located there. A storage cabinet is placed on the starboard side.
At times when there is no sailing, the reliable Ruggerini marine diesel engine provides propulsion for this classic sailing yacht.
