The original wall panelling (thin teak slats) could no longer be saved / used and has therefore been replaced by panelling made of Afzelia slats on a larch / plywood frame. The ship was built in 1937 at Schut in Martenshoek (Groningen). The original ship's plate is still present. According to the 'Jaarboek voor de scheepvaart en scheepsbouw 1932 – 1940' (Moorman), the ship was built under the name Stirns for Mr F. Fokkema of Amsterdam. He owned it until his death in 1961. All owners the ship has had since then are known. In 1992, the then owner, Mr. Post, registered the ship with the Vereniging van Booteigenaren Oude Glorie (VBOG). By that time, the ship's name had changed to Ahoy. However, the response from Oude Glorie went to the next owner, Mr. S.J. Hoornstra, who had bought the ship in 1994. Mr. Hoornstra hardly sailed with the ship because he had it under reconstruction almost continuously, with intervals. That reconstruction initially concerned mainly the exterior of the ship, the hull bottom, the deck, the cockpit tent, and the engine. In the process, almost the entire interior, in particular the interior paneling, was removed. In 2007, the next owner, Mr. Douma, replaced the original 40 hp Gray Marine gasoline engine with the current engine.
The current owner bought the ship in 2009 as a retirement project. He started with the last part of the reconstruction, installing an entirely new interior paneling + refurbishing the hull and the cockpit tent, in 2010. Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, work came to a complete standstill for several years, but was resumed at the beginning of 2017. On 14 July 2018, the ship was festively relaunched as Bondeux. It has since been sailed with great pleasure.
The layout is now again in line with what is customary for this type of vessel: at the front of the bow the toilet, behind that the pantry and the saloon with two sleeping places. Behind the bow the cockpit with a cockpit tent with a fixed roof on top, and finally the aft deck. Under and behind the aft bench, under the floors, under the bed benches and in the interior, an abundance of storage space has been created. During the reconstruction, several original details could be preserved.
