More about the Hallberg Rassy Rasmus 35

Harry Hallberg founded his yard in 1943 and in 1965 founded Christoph Rassy a yard in a building that recently by Hallberg was cleared. Hallberg-Rassy was formed when the Hall of Hallberg Rassy bought after the retirement of Harry Halberg in 1972. Since 1988 are all designs produced by the Argentine engineer and yacht designer Germán Frers. To date, more than 8,900 yachts completed by the yard. The company is owned by the Rassy family and managed by Magnus Rassy.

Olle Enderlein. In the years 1965-1972 were Harry Hallberg and Christoph Rassy competitors. Initially built Christoph Rassy one-off boats.

The first boat that became part of a series was the "Rasmus 35", designed in 1966 by the then Swedish designer of elegant yachts, Olle Enderlein. The first two were completely built in mahogany and lasted a year to build. This boat was in many ways ahead of its time. It was a pioneer in long distance cruiser with a powerful engine and a central cockpit protected by a windshield. This is a design that to this day at the Hallberg-Rassy-yachts. When the Rasmus was presented, were many eyebrows raised. Some thought that the boat was much too large. At that time was regarded as a huge 35 foot boat size. In addition, it was a sailing boat with a wind screen. This was an unprecedented combination.

He has boats such as the Hallberg-Rassy Rasmus 35, which for the first time a middencockpit with windshield and aft cabin, had further designs for this company were 352, HR HR HR HR HR 38, 382 41, 42, 45 and 49 HR, HR; but also for other shipyards (e.g.. NAJAD) he designed sailing ships, for example, the OE-boats, which were named for his initials. A total of about 200 designs go back to him. Harry Hallberg's most prominent contribution was his understanding of the benefits of the use of GRP and building boats in a series. In 1963 he was one of the pioneers in the series production of sailing boats with GRP. He was the first successful Builder of GRP hulls with wooden superstructure in a series. As a matter of curiosity we tell about a potential buyer-buyer, who in 1972 was torn between buying a Mistral 33 from the Hallberg-Rassy Rasmus 35 of the yard or shipyard. The Rasmus had a middencockpit and the Mistral had an aft cockpit. The prospect asked a salesman at Hallberg why he the Mistral had to choose: "-as the boat has a cockpit in the back, you risk losing no water splashing in an aft cabin" was the answer. The prospective buyer later went to the Rassy-yard to the Rasmus. The following discussion took place: future buyer to Mr Rassy:

-Why not a boat with an aft cockpit, so you do not get water in the aft cabin?
-Who recommends that to? Asked the Lord Rassy.
-The folks at Hallberg in Ellös.
-That they will never say.
-Why not?
-I bought this morning the Hallberg-yard.

A Rasmus was ordered. This boat has the same happy owner to this day.
And besides; the water splashed not in the aft cabin!

Volvo Penta is één van de merken waar je maar weinig negatiefs over kunt zeggen, de motoren zijn goed doordacht en hebben bewezen dat ze lang mee gaan. Ook al is de motor al jaren uit productie, onderdelen zijn over het algemeen nog goed te verkrijgen.
