Beautiful classic sharp yacht, specially built for the Fastnet race
** MOTIVATED SELLER, SIGNIFICANT PRICE REDUCTION **
Frans Maas designed the Hawk 42 in 1968 specifically for the Fastnet race. Several were built, including hull number 249, the Timujin (the original name of the Calypso) which was launched in April 1970. This Hawk is the last of a series of 4 (of which 2 in polyester). In short, a unique classic racer. The first thing that stands out about the Calypso is the beautiful classic line so characteristic of the racers from the early 1970s. The next most eye-catching feature is the very generously sized cockpit. And then immediately followed by the wide gangways. All this makes it very pleasant to be outside on the Calypso, both in the harbour and under sail. The Calypso has a classic interior which has been deliberately preserved as much as possible, but to which luxury has been added over the years. For example, a hot air heater and a 4-burner stove with a spacious oven have been installed. Notable are the very practical sea berths (with a very comfortable sleeping spot for every type of wind) and the spacious fold-out table where 8 people can dine. The 2-metre-long benches can be widened, creating 2 extra sleeping places. Sufficient storage space is available both under the sea berths and in the very generously sized hanging closet. Over the last 20 years, a lot of major maintenance has been carried out by Skip Maritiem in Hindeloopen (NL). The teak deck was completely re-rubberised and partly replaced in 1994, but will require attention in the coming years. The asking price takes into account major maintenance/replacement of the deck.
