Koopmans 1050 : Sailing yacht "Banjaard" – a unique vessel with a special story

Kustvaarder IV

With a warm heart we offer our beloved sailing yacht Banjaard for sale – a vessel that has brought us wonderful adventures and unforgettable memories for decades.

The construction of Banjaard began as a hull in 1977 at the renowned shipyard Kuijper in Schoorldam. In 1980 she was delivered, beautifully finished with a full teak interior and exterior. This exceptional interior was skillfully carried out by Rinus Leijnse from Oude Niedorp. His work on the Banjaard attracted so much admiration that he subsequently received commissions from Victoire to finish their vessels. Fine proof of the quality and appeal of this yacht!

We are the proud first owners and have the Banjaard always maintained with great love and care. She has proven herself time and again to be a reliable, comfortable and seaworthy vessel. Together we have made adventurous trips to, among others, Norderney, Helgoland and the Danish coast. We also sailed to the English Isle of Wight, crossed the Needles towards Guernsey and Alderney, and visited the French ports of Honfleur and Cherbourg.

Of course, we also fully enjoyed the beauty close to home: the Wadden Islands, the IJsselmeer and the Frisian coast – the Banjaard feels at home everywhere.

Now it is time to hand over the helm to a new owner. Someone who gets just as much love and enjoyment out of sailing as we do. The Banjaard is more than a boat – she is a companion full of character, history and possibilities. Classic Class with Modern Comfort from the first owner who commissioned the build!!

Step aboard this stunning Koopmans 1050 and experience the perfect marriage between timeless elegance and contemporary reliability. This is no ordinary sailing yacht – this is a lovingly maintained classic, built for the true sailor with an eye for style, comfort and seaworthiness.

Authentic craftsmanship in every detail. Look at the finish of the cockpit edge, the winches in stainless steel style, the winches have even been overhauled, beautifully painted, no rust, stainless steel rubbing strips, super heavy Volvo Penta clean and strong and reliable.

What immediately stands out is the rich, warm woodwork inside – maintained to perfection and a delight for the eye. The beautiful classic layout radiates calm and class and, with surprisingly large spaces both in the salon as well as the toilet and comfortable sleeping quarters. The generous beds offer space and rest, even during longer voyages.

The winches have been completely overhauled, the hull has recently been professionally painted, and during the sale the yacht will also be given a new layer of antifouling – ready for a carefree sailing season. Everything exudes solidity and dedication.

An aft cockpit you'll never want to leave: the spacious, deep aft cockpit offers comfort and safety at sea. Here you feel at one with the ship, the wind and the water – whether you're sailing solo or enjoying a sunset on deck together.

This Koopmans 1050 is built to brave the sea. In wind force six you sail with confidence – and thanks to the well-thought-out construction and high-quality finish, the interior stays dry: not a drop on the cushions in the cockpit, even in rough weather.

The seaworthy galley is functional and inviting. With plenty of workspace, smart storage, and a pleasant layout, you can cook here just like at home – even when the waves are rough.

Are you ready for the next chapter at sea?

Reliable power on board – Volvo Penta 3-cylinder (1977)

Solidly built, well maintained and ready for many miles.

Under the hood of this Koopmans 1050 beats the robust heart of a Volvo Penta 3-cylinder diesel engine from 1977 – a true classic that has earned its stripes at sea. This engine is known for its reliability, sturdy construction and surprising power in all conditions.

Older? Yes. Worn out? Absolutely not.

This Volvo Penta is in excellent mechanical condition and has always been well maintained. The engine room is clean, tidy and organized, and the engine itself is remarkably neat – no oil, no clutter, just well cared for as it should be. Here you can see an owner who knows what maintenance means.

Parts always available

A major advantage of this engine is the excellent availability of parts. Despite its age, plenty of parts are still available – proof of the popularity and durability of this series. Parts can be found in abundance, both online and from specialized suppliers, making this engine a wise choice in the long term as well.

Reliable starting, stable running

The engine starts smoothly and runs quietly, without hesitation or smoke. Thanks to the solid 3-cylinder block, it delivers sufficient pulling power, even against headwinds or when approaching a harbor in difficult conditions. Exactly what you want on a seaworthy yacht like this.

Ready to depart

This Volvo Penta may be from 1977, but it is anything but an old-timer. This is a well-maintained powerhouse that does exactly what it should: run reliably, even when it counts. An engine that suits the Koopmans: solid, well thought-out, and built to sail.
